binsad is back babyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
The grungey, pop-rock quartet released their second single, days, late last week, and it is set to be a fan favourite for a long time. The chorus has been stuck in my head all weekend and I can confirm that it is definitely the perfect scream-in-the-car song!!
It’s sludgey and slightly distorted, the fuzzy guitar is captivating, the pounding drum beat is reminiscent of peak feeble little horse, and best of all, it is full of themes of an insatiable desire.
“days portrays the yearning feeling that stirs inside you when you’re missing your favourite person. It’s the craving you get for being near someone that you can’t reach,” the band says.
‘days’ takes the best elements of shoegaze, alternative rock, and grunge to create a blend of something mystical and dreamy, but also heavy and nostalgic.
Their sound is entirely their own, and to that I am eternally grateful for.
Coming nearly two months after the band’s first single, idrwk, it is safe to say that binsad are carving out an independent, untapped side of Sydney’s local scene, one full of heavy emotional vulnerability in their lyrics and a pounding talent emanating from the instrumentals.
Their sound is intense, yet there is an uncovered gentleness that lingers beneath the surface, maybe even a longiness.
What is special though is the comfort in the sadness that their music brings. Regardless of the harsh reality of the lyrics matched with the brashing velocity of the instrumentals, the sweetness lies in the vulnerable comfort of these elements combined.
From the bass to the drums, guitar to vocals, every element of days shows audiences a sense of thoughtfulness and purpose. Each strum of the strings, each hit of the toms and cymbals, feels deliberate, it’s meant to be there; this music is meant to be made.
I’m no fortune teller, but I can see binsad developing a cult following very soon, and ratbag is happily a part of that.
Whilst every element plays its own invaluable role in the track, I feel the need to specifically highlight Sinead’s vocals; The emotion delivered in her voice is palpable and is truly a standout feature of the track. It brings a grounded rawness and emotive weight to the track.
I’m actually obsessed with this song, everyone please listen asap!!!
And go see them at King St Crawl!!!
binsad is Sinead (bass/vocals), Edie (guitar), Alex (guitar) and Adam (drums).
